Shared or private?
A shared pool in a managed compound comes inside the dues and is maintained by the management; being closed out of season is normal. A private pool adds value to a villa, but its upkeep, water and chemicals fall to the owner — and a heated or indoor pool raises running costs noticeably.
Questions worth asking
- Is the pool open year-round or seasonally?
- Is maintenance inside the dues, or billed separately?
- For private pools, are the permit and safety measures (fencing, cover) in place?
- What else does the compound offer — gym, security, parking?
